It's better this way because if I tried cramming characters in it'd look bad... and people would mistake it for a furry comic. For the most part it really isn't... the Egyptian Gods just look that way. Better to have them see just the Egypt reference, then they'll give it a chance if they're interested in Egypt.

Simple is always good (even better if it turns out to be far more complex than one can handle, but primarily simple). I like the banner concept, it really sends the message without spoiling it. I must agree with some of the remarks made here:
Putting hieroglyphs to emphasize the hand of the gods in it is a great idea, if done carefully not to spoil the image. My suggestion would be the eye of Horus, in the skies, transparent.
And the distribution of the phrase on top is partially good because I can't see why divide it into many pieces, so the phrase entirely put is great. Although, since it is in touch with the pyramids, it is a little confusing. My idea of a solution would be to enlarge the upper part, with the sky, or place the phrase where the Hotep logo is and try to put it behind the pyramids.
